This was the central theme of Noelle Goldman-Jacob’s Women and Leadership: ‘And Still I Rise’ – Bold for Change 2017.
I am very pleased to have been invited to this beautifully executed event in a room full of inspirational and courageous women. I spoke to precisely 7 women and each had a unique story worth telling.
I even managed to sneak a selfie with Right Honorable Maria Miller, MP. A lady whose grit and tenacity I find very inspiring.
So, here are some key messages that I took away that I think every woman should know or be reminded of:
Maria Miller, MP on Women, Leadership and Work
‘Until we start to put ourselves forward, we will not see the change we want to see’
‘The barriers that women face all over the world have a common nature’
‘This affects men too’
Cllr Terri Reid on Empowering Women
‘ We can all be the change’
‘Encourage, mentor and champion other women’
‘Step up if you see a woman being interrupted’
‘Reiterate valid points that women are making’
Cllr Hannah Golding on Modern slavery
‘If we are not getting emotional about modern slavery then something is wrong’
Reflecting on all the amazing walks, talks and events from yesterday’s International Women’s Day and the rallying cry to Be Bold for Change, these words stood out for me and served as a reminder of what we all know but easily forget - that together we are stronger, but that even one voice can still change the world.
